About Us
No one can have failed to notice the recent proliferation of healthy eating items in the media over the last few years. The terms “balanced diets”, “better food choices”, “well-rounded meals” have all become a part of our vocabulary - whether we meant them to or not. Food preparation programmes like Come Dine With Me, Masterchef and The Hairy Bikers are firm television favorites.
Yet even as the food we eat holds strong as the media’s pet project, as a nation we are still cooking less today than we did 20 years ago, and the misconception remains that healthy eating means gnawing on drab salads.
The idea for these healthy cooking classes grew from the increasing number of conversations I was having with frustrated friends, family and colleagues who all swore that they were ready to try something different. After a few “taster” (see what we did there?) classes, Lean Healthy Cuisine was born. We have been converting people to the delights of fresh, tasty, healthy cuisine ever since.
So what are some of the healthy eating myths that we can dispel right now?
Eating healthily is expensive.
No it isn’t. We use fresh, readily available ingredients in each of our dishes. These can be bought in any supermarket or at any market stall.
Cooking healthy food is time-consuming.
It doesn’t have to be. We’ll show you how to make a delectable range of quick, healthy dishes. We’ll also teach you how to make a tasty, three-course meal in just 90 minutes!
Healthy food is tasteless.
Eh? Not the way we show you how to make it. At Lean Cuisine, creativity is king. Food is meant to be fun and fulfilling - that’s why you get to try out a full and exciting range of recipes – old classics and new originals - that incorporate a variety of herbs and spices that will make your taste buds tango!
Eating healthily is restrictive and repetitive. Salad, salad and more salad.
Nope. Healthy eating does not mean certain foods are outlawed – you can eat pretty much anything (within reason!) The cooking techniques we’ll teach you just mean the food tastes scrumptious while still being good for your body.
Healthy eating means “Bye bye social life”
Not on this planet, it doesn't. Of course many social activities revolve around food – it’s so yummy after all. But Lean Cuisine is all about taking the “hell” out of healthy eating by making sure that we provide you with tools that mean you can enjoy a night out with friends without resorting to your limp lettuce and longingly ogling their juicy steaks drenches in creamy sauces and cheese. Our Saturday evening socials provide a solution to this as they are a great night out with a twist - good, fast, tasty food made by you.
Our classes are suited to every level of cooking proficiency. From beginners to the seasoned cooks. If you’re health-conscious, trying to lose weight, or trying to maintain your weight after recent weight loss and counting calories, we will teach you how to make a healthy three-course meal that will come to roughly 1000 calories – nearly 25% less than a Big Mac Meal with a regular strawberry milkshake (1240 calories).
